Help Plan Las Vegas The city of Las Vegas and the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA) are hosting the Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) Challenge from now through May 2015. The goal is to procure highly innovative, creative, and transformational economic development ideas for Las Vegas from qualified multidisciplinary teams in Nevada and throughout the world. Prizes totaling $100,000 will be awarded during phase one of the competition, and the selected finalists will compete for prizes totaling $800,000 during the second phase of the competition. We welcome yo ur participation to help shape the future of this city. The process can be divided into three stages. Each one is designed to offer flexibility for developing creative and practical approaches to economic planning. 1 Start A Team We are encouraging participation from experts who may not typically work in economic planning, but who offer disciplined ways of thinking about local issues. We are seeking qualified and experienced multidisciplinary teams to create a range of innovative and transformational ideas for four targeted areas within the city of Las Vegas in need of economic revitalization. 2 Build A Plan In phase one of the competition, teams are asked to develop a detailed proposal that includes a discrete project representing a strategic approach for one of four targeted areas. The purpose of phase one is to showcase your team's talent, so that you may be selected as a finalist to submit a more comprehensive plan in phase two of the competition. 3 Help A City Submit your proposal to a panel of local community leaders and authorities, who will use a common framework for judging your ideas through a process that ensures fair treatment for everyone.
